Client tips

Clients, who are human beings, have shared with me a couple of tips for their allied health journey, which I share below, with thanks:

1) If you are funded by the NDIS and have a self-managed plan- create a new bank account for the funds to easily track spending.

2) Arrive early. I was often suprised at how chilled out a mum and son, that I saw regularly were in the waiting room when I went to greet them. The client’s parents had changed their lives to help their child. This included arriving 15 minutes early for appointments. I know everyone is different and this may not work for all people however for those that stress at: being late; missing some of their session; or needing more time, it seems to help.

My ideas:

1) Write appointments and your therapists’ contact information in diary or planner. Or, if you use an electronic calendar- check your next appointment is on there before leaving your appointment or when you have made your appointment booking.

2) Provide feedback to your therapist if you need to (it is up to the therapist to take this on board or not). Most profession’s code of conduct will require the therapist to have client feedback channels, and your feedback should be handled respectfully.
